Who we are

First Week is run by Adam Lewis, a sole trader based in Vietnam and registered in the United Kingdom. Email hello@thefirstweek.co.uk with any question. By creating an account, you agree to these terms. How we look after your information is on the privacy page.

What you're buying

Prices are in pounds. No VAT is charged. Card payments are taken by Stripe, which emails your receipt and invoice.

Each pack is made for one child (or two taught together), so its year group and home language are fixed once a day from it has been printed, or 7 days after you buy it, whichever comes first. You can change its dates for the days still to come, your school's words and the other choices at any time. Days already taught stay as they are.

Paying by invoice

A school licence can be paid by invoice, emailed to your finance office. The invoice is due within 30 days. Until it's paid, the licence covers up to 2 learners; once it's paid, it covers everyone. If the invoice is more than 14 days overdue, the licence and the packs started under it pause until it's paid.

Refunds

If a pack isn't right for you, we'll give you a full refund within 14 days of buying it, as long as no day from it has been printed. Email hello@thefirstweek.co.uk from the address you signed up with.

Once a day has been printed, we're sorry, but we can't offer a refund: the pack has been made and used. A day counts as printed when you press Print on the site, or print it from your browser.

The same goes for a school licence: a full refund within 14 days, as long as nobody has printed a day under it.

Using the sheets

Translations

The home-language parts of the home sheets, and your messages for families, are translated by machine and then checked by fluent speakers as we find them. Every home sheet says whether its translation has been checked yet. Please read a message carefully before you send it home, and if there's a speaker of the language in your school, ask them to look too.

Your account

If something goes wrong

We work hard to keep First Week running and its sheets accurate. If something goes wrong, tell us and we'll put it right as quickly as we can. If we can't, our responsibility is limited to the amount you paid, except where the law doesn't allow a limit, for example for death or injury caused by negligence, or fraud.

Changes and the law

If we change these terms, we'll update this page, and for any important change, email you first. These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. If you're in Scotland or Northern Ireland, you can also bring a claim in your own courts.
